The first tennis competition was held in 1877, which is now known as the Wimbledon Championships. It began with one player who challenged another to a game of tennis at their club in Worple Road where there used to be this real tennis court that was constructed on land owned by Charles Goodyear who would eventually donate his tennis ball machine when he decided no longer needed it for his own personal use.
